Gamification of recruitment and pre-onboarding at Deloitte

Within the framework of the “Deal Maker” project, Deloitte’s Financial Advisory department faced the challenge of recruiting the best graduates of selected economics majors. These people are very intelligent and demanding, which makes it difficult to attract and interest them.

The main goal of the project was to identify those who are not only committed, but also able to absorb substantive knowledge and apply it effectively in practice. The company decided to provide them with a unique experience. Already at the stage of the first contact with the company, candidates are invited to an interesting and very substantive adventure – this is the gamification of recruitment on the Gamehill platform!

What were the challenges and needs of the Deloitte client?

Deloitte, as a modern company that cares about its employer branding, decided to implement a gamified platform – gamification of recruitment and pre onboarding.

It allowed the company to test candidates’ skills, but also to take care of them during the pre-onboarding period, staying in constant contact with them and passing on the first pills of knowledge already.

To this end, four-week tasks have been placed on the gamification platform in an attractive format. Project participants had the opportunity to participate in short offline meetings and solve tasks on the platform, which allowed them to supplement their knowledge and demonstrate the competencies required for work at Deloitte.

Case studies as a test of competence

A key element of the “Deal Maker” project was the involvement of candidates in the analysis of real-life case studies. Candidates were given a variety of data, such as press clippings and financial tables, which they then used to prepare a prospectus and company valuation.

This allowed them to understand exactly what it is like to work in Financial Advisory, which allowed them to better assess whether this career path is right for them.

Proven formula with long-term results

The “Deal Maker” project formula has proven to be successful and sustainable – for the past five years Deloitte has used this method to identify the best candidates for its Financial Advisory division. The combination of gamification, real-life tasks and contact with experts not only engages candidates, but also allows for the effective selection of the most competent people.
