Hybrid leadership development

Choosing the right form of leader development is often challenging. On the one hand, we have traditional live workshops, which provide the unique energy of a group and the comfort of face-to-face interaction. On the other hand, online training offers flexibility, time and cost savings. A hybrid training model, combining the advantages of both approaches, seems to be the best solution.

👨‍🏫 Offline vs online training

Workshops with a coach, whether live or delivered remotely, are very popular. Participants and trainers appreciate them for the opportunity to speak comfortably, the unique energy of the group and the ease of focusing on the topic, away from day-to-day responsibilities. However, organising such training sessions, especially in an offline format, can present logistical challenges and costs.

Often in such a case, we turn to online training, which in many cases solves the problem of organising the venue and getting there. However, the traditional e-learning format, which leaves participants alone with the learning process, can lead to unsatisfactory results. Without adequate support and motivation, participants’ course completion will simply be low.

📚 How do gamification-based platforms support leadership development?

Platforms with gamification elements use mechanisms such as progress bars, discovery of new content, social elements and achievements to motivate participants to use the resources regularly. Participants log in every week to discover new portions of knowledge.

In the hybrid model, the skills and knowledge gained online are then practised in a workshop with a trainer. Participants can make sure they can apply new skills in practice, receive direct feedback from experts and exchange experiences with other participants. This direct contact with the trainer and the group allows for better assimilation of the material and its practical application.

If a full hybrid project is not possible, both formats – online and offline – can be delivered one after the other. The offline workshop series can be augmented with microlearning formats on a gamification platform, ensuring continuous learning and keeping participants engaged.

💡Our experience - Hybrid formula as an effective solution

Based on years of experience, together with our content partner Westhill, we have developed an effective hybrid formula that combines online and offline training. Particularly effective is the combination of a series of workshops and an online training platform with elements of gamification. Gamification, although it may be associated with entertainment or competition, is primarily aimed at increasing participants’ engagement in the development process. For leadership training, which can last from three to as long as 12 months, ongoing motivation is key.

📊CASE STUDY

The ‘Auchan Leader’ project is a pioneering approach to leadership development, combining traditional training methods with modern technology. In this innovative talent development program, we focused on a hybrid development model, combining classroom workshops with gamification and microlearning on a dedicated platform.
